Nosy Komba, known as Lemur Island, is the most attractive of the islands comprising the Nosy Be archipelago located between the north-western coast of Madagascar and the Mozambique Channel.

Nosy Komba is a former volcano covered by dense forest, surrounded by fine sandy beaches descending gently down to the ocean. This heavenly island is also home to an extraordinary variety of terrestrial and aquatic fauna and flora, living in perfect harmony with the small number of fishing villages where skilled craftsmen turn out traditional dugout canoes and women embroider attractive colourful tablecloths.

Curiosity, adventure, exploration and immersion…. These are just some of the exciting experiences awaiting you here, with family, friends or as a couple.

Grab a mask and snorkel and discover the incredible undersea world during a spot of snorkelling. Take a boat ride in a dugout boat or canoe along the creeks while paddling. Head back to the beach for a spot of beach volleyball, beach racquetball, badminton, kiting or frisbee throwing. Relax on one of our deckchairs in the shade of a parasol on the beach, or get your teeth into a good book. We’ve got some great ones to propose for you.

The chance to view dolphins on an almost daily basis in the bay or whales at the right time of year is always an incredible and very emotional sight. In Tsara Komba you’ll be delighted when you spot them from the terrace or your Lodge or from the beach.

Diving is one of our guests’ favourite activities. Just 20 minutes from the hotel, dive into a genuine natural aquarium and discover an undersea world brimming with fish, turtles, anemones and corals, each more beautiful than the next… Imagine your meeting with a whale shark or a majestic manta ray… after having swam with an attractive turtle or through a shoal of trevally! A fast boat ideally suited to this activity enables us to reach numerous well-known diving sites around Nosy Komba.

Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a total beginner, we can help you discover the fascinating undersea world of the Mozambique channel, offering one of the world’s finest examples of biodiversity.

Nosy Mamoko, where the boat will moor near a charming fishing village surrounded by dense forests. You can admire the Makis lemurs or the giant tortoises and head over to the waterfall or continue up the river through the mangrove swamps. Part of this island is still “fady” (sacred).

Next, head for Nosy Kisimany to join a delicious picnic before setting off to discover this pretty enclosed bay (a real natural crater) and come accross the centuries-old baobabs around the beach. The waters surrounding the island are particularly rich. You will have the opportunity to discover them snorkleling. It’s rare not to encounter dolphins there. It is also said that each year a dhow from Zanzibar comes to stock up on shark oil.

This protected nature reserve is the archipelago’s last primaeval forest. It covers the south-eastern part of Nosy Be, spanning 740 hectares. Numerous varieties of medicinal plants endemic to Madagascar and millennia-old trees (palms, ferns, orchids, pandanus and epiphytic plants…) can be found alongside more than 350 animal species (insects, primates, lemurs – including a lemur endemic to the reserve: the Eulemur macaco -, frogs, chameleons, birds, reptiles…) make it popular with scientists from all around the world and all lovers of plants and wildlife.
