KIATTUA ADVENTURE CAMP
WHERE IN THE WORLD
Secluded in the raw beauty of untouched Greenlandic shores, Kiattua is a doorway to a world that is pure as nature intended. Immersed in origin and secret landscape, it forces you to dialogue with nature, surrendering you to senses long forgotten.
Kiattua is situated 80 km from Nuuk the capital of Greenland. You can only get to this secluded spot by boat or helicopter. The camp is placed among the oldest mountains in the world. In fact, the only human made thing you will see from the camp are the 800 hundred year old Viking Ruins. Among towering high mountains at a well protected inlet, the Camp area offers stunning natural views over the ice covered waters, and the magnificent waterfall providing constant flow of fresh water.
KIND TO THE ENVIRONMENT
With a population of 56.081, it is the least densely populated region globally. We believe that the untouched nature in Greenland is the perfect place to get reconnected to something you might never know you lost.
All non-organic waste from the camp are brought back to Nuuk and goes to the incinerator. Organic waste are collected separately and are dumped in the ocean to be recycled in the food chain. All waste water runs directly out in dry well, therefore we only allow organic soap in the camp.
All tents area cleaned every day, this is done during the hours where the clients are out for adventures. Sheets, towels and bathrobes are not changed everyday. Extra towels are always available in the bath tent. The bags in the toilet are changed every day, and leaves no smell. Beside this the toilet is cleaned in chlorine everyday.
We do not have any leaks nearby the camp, this means that all water runs into the two rivers encircling the camp from the glaciers above the camp. The kitchen and the toilets all have running water, both hot and cold. We use portable tankless water heaters, providing endless hot water.
CLIMATE CHANGE 🍃
Most of us are familiar with the term ‘climate change’, and see it to some extent as a reality of the world today. For many of us it’s something that we simply see in the news, with environmental conditions setting new records in faraway nations: “the warmest”, “the wettest”, “the driest”. But in some places climate change is an undeniable fact of everyday life. One of these places is Greenland.

Once we reach the camp, we will take you on a short hike to the beautiful waterfall behind the camp.
This is the final activity of the day, and the hike itself is brief. That said, it does demand a little bit of stamina, and gives you an idea of what types of hikes to expect in the upcoming days.
INUIT WAY OF LIFE
Take a boat cruise to the Kapisillit area, which is a notorious Greenlandic Salmon breeding spot. Fish with your bare hands and traditional rods, then enjoy lunch next to the river. From there, walk to the settlement of Kapisillit and explore the area, meeting some of the 50 inhabitants.
This rich experience will provide you with a glimpse of the local settlement life.
HIKE OR SCRAMBLE
After breakfast, embark on a boat cruise to the fiord, which has a wide range of hiking terrains. We’ll find a route that suits your groups’ ability – from no experience, to scrambling to the summit of the tallest mountain (1650m). Hiking back to the sea, you will be met by our boat which will return you to the camp for an exquisite, well-deserved dinner.
THE POWER OF THE ICE
Take a boat cruise deep into the Nuuk fjord, stopping on the way at the ice fjord. There, you’ll get the thrilling experience of swimming in the arctic waters and standing on the ice, dressed in our survival suits. From there, our boat will sail to the most productive glacier and close to all of the peaks, waterfalls, and bays. After lunch, you can go on an afternoon hike, finished off by a delicious dinner.
After a thorough introduction to kayaking, you will hit the fjord in your own kayak and paddle among the ice. This trip is for everyone, whether or not it’s your first time in a kayak. Our skilled Nomad guides will ensure your safety from the backup boat and kayak.
THE MIGHTY ICE CAP
After breakfast, take a helicopter tour to the ice cap. There the helicopter will land, providing a perfect opportunity for incredible pictures and views. From there, take another helicopter adventure to the Norse ruins. Learn about the Viking heritage and life, until finally being airlifted to a gorgeous view for a scenic lunch. Then, venture back to the camp via boat.
YOUR UNIQUE & PERFECT ROOM
Your tent will be huge with ample space to stand. It comes with 2 single or 1 double bed fully lined, as well as a small table with chairs and a wood stove to keep your tent warm at night.
Each tent has its own separate, private hygiene station – which is a separate tent in close proximity that comes fully equipped with hot shower & eco-toilet.
The dining tent has a built-in kitchen, allowing guests to observe and participate as the chef creates fresh, gourmet meals. We believe that dining is a big part of the experience, and thus only work with the best chefs in the country. Ingredients are all freshly sourced nearby, and include various fish, mussels, arctic mushrooms, as well as herbs like angelica, arctic thyme, labrador tea and various berries.
HOT TUB & SAUNA
