The redesigned camp overlooking game-filled plains has stylish new tented suites, a selection of viewing decks, and a wealth of enticing activities. Dedicated to privacy and personal service, the team offers a sophisticated safari experience. The camp is small and intimate with a maximum of twelve ensuite guest tents.

Voted Africa’s Leading National Park at the World Travel Awards six years running, the Maasai Mara is one of the world’s top safari destinations. Known for exceptional sightings of big cats, the reserve has extraordinary numbers of wildlife and birdlife.

Each suite has complete privacy, tucked into a grove of trees with its own private entrance. Raised on stilts, each offers sweeping views across the Talek River onto the golden plains of the Maasai Mara. The suites have spacious wooden decks with detachable canvas sides, and are elegantly adorned with flowing fabrics, comfortable furnishings and subtle lighting.

The bathrooms, with views on all sides, include an indoor shower that opens to the outdoors, and have amenities made specifically for Ilkeliani from indigenous local plants. The luxury family suite, with a spacious living area between two bedrooms, is ideal for families or groups of friends.

At Ilkeliani you can fill your days with activities or enjoy the camp at leisure. The game-filled plains of the Maasai Mara offer all manner of activities, and guests can do as much or as little as they choose. Drive out of camp at dawn to watch the animals waking to the start of a new day and return to camp for breakfast, or spend a full day in the reserve, stopping for lunch at a picturesque viewpoint. Stroll along the riverbanks observing the prolific birdlife, and talk to the Maasai about their medicinal uses of the indigenous plants.

Experience the local culture in a traditional village, and learn the people’s unique stories of creation. Ride a horse across the savannah, mingling with the animals as one of them, or float through the sky in a balloon, gazing down on the animals moving within rippling grasses. Your schedule at Ilkeliani is flexible and your days designed according to your wishes.

Bring your family on safari; Children under 5 stay free. Children aged 5-11 stay at discounted rates. Ages 12+ adult rate.

Ilkeliani firmly believes that tourism should benefit the ecosystem, the wildlife and the local communities. The camp operates fully on solar power, and helps guests live plastic free by providing refillable water flasks and plentiful water stations. The camp has a tree nursery and an organic vegetable garden, and eco-friendly systems are in place for recycling, kitchen operation and waste disposal.

Members of the local community make up the majority of the staff, and many have been trained at the camp. Should guests wish to contribute further to local communities, Ilkeliani has partnered with Pack for a Purpose to supply goods to local schools, clinics and projects.
