Welcome to Gomoti Plains Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana
There are a number of extraordinary safari destinations in Africa, none more so that the fabulous Okavango Delta. Famed for its cherished water eco-system and accompanying phenomenal wildlife experiences.
May signals the return of the annual waters that flood down from the Angolan Highlands – which is a miracle of nature in itself. Whether you travel during the wet or dry season, there is always something to see in this untamed perfect land. A tapestry of seasonal waterways, the Okavango Delta is home to more than 2 000 plant, 530 bird, 65 fish species, and a large variety of mammal species. Our clients can explore this pristine wilderness area in an open-air game vehicle, a mokoro canoe or by foot on a walking safari.
Wildlife sightings in the GOMOTI area have been fantastic, making a safari here all the more remarkable. GOMOTI’s camp management shares with us what’s been happening in May;
“The resident male lion, Nagmerrie, has been pushed out of what was once his territory by three younger male lions. “The Three Sissy boys”, as they are affectionately known, are claiming their territory by scent marking every chance they get and roaring through the night, reminding any challenger of their presence. Nagmerrie put up a good fight but at 13 years, he is wise to retreat to an open territory and take care of his 11 growing cubs.”
“Golden hour took on a new meaning when we saw 18 African wild dogs, six cheetahs and seven lions within the space of an hour! One could call it luck, but our guides at Gomoti Plains are experts in the area and love to share what makes this camp and this area so special.”
