Fusing sustainability with exceptional safari experiences
At better Safaris, our goal is to promote sustainable travel and ensure that our clients enjoy the best that Africa and other world destinations has to offer. For us, quality doesn’t override sustainability, sustainability must come first.
Green energy use such as solar and electric vehicles have been a welcomed addition to the tourism industry, it means travellers and companies such as Better Safaris, can make far better ethical choices when travelling or organising our safaris. True sustainability lays within understanding how, when and where to travel. Destinations, accommodations and other service providers must use new technologies and improvements in materials available to create a more sustainable, eco-friendly experience and likewise, travellers must look for these sustainable options.
One of these options is by using safari camps that are solar powered. Whilst many of the safari camps we use are run on the energy of the sun, camps are also implementing greener grey-waste systems, removing plastics, offering vegan friendly meals, providing filtered clean water and even utilising electric vehicles – a safari is one of the greenest forms of travel available.
So let’s take you through a selection of our highly recommended solar-powered safari camps…

This complex ecosystem is one of Zambia’s wildest and offers a remarkable safari experience. Large herds of elephant and buffalo share this special wilderness with 14 antelope and three endemic mammal species. A renowned predator playground with a sizeable leopard population, be sure to keep a look out for this agile feline.
Shawa Luangwa Camp is the only camp that also uses electric Land Cruisers to explore this sensitive ecosystem gently and quietly.
